By now I am sure you know what today is, I mean, every blogger under the sun is talking about it! That’s right, today kicks off Early Access to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! Let me start by saying that this post is NOT sponsored but I have been a ride or die Nordstrom shopper since I went away to college and finally lived close to one. Now that we have that out of the way, Nordstrom, if you ever want to sponsor me I am 1000% in!
Okay, so what is the Anniversary Sale (in case you don’t actually know)? Every Summer Nordstrom does a HUGE sale that offers serious discounts on your favorite NEW items for Fall. That’s right. Typically sale merchandise is past season or one off sizes that just didn’t sell when they first arrived. Nordstrom offers it’s customers a chance to shop brand new items for major discounts. So the next thing to cover, to shop this week you have to be a Nordstrom cardholder (but don’t worry, if you are not one you can apply HERE) or you can wait for the sale to open to the public July 21st. Be warned, the best items will sell out before then, I know this from experience.
A word of warning from someone who is known to impulse buy just because something is on sale: take some time to evaluate what you need for your Fall wardrobe, add to your shopping bag then EDIT, EDIT, EDIT, and don’t buy just because of the price. I am sure we all love a bargain and this sale is definitely that but just because those faux leather jeans are 40% off doesn’t mean you should buy them if you honestly will never wear them. Know what I mean?
So, what I am looking at this year? Since Palm Springs has 2 seasons (warm and hot AF) I find that I really don’t need those cute chunky sweaters or heavy wool cardigans like some other girls do. Instead I need light pieces that I can layer on those rare cold days (or when we head out of town) and can easily wear on the warmer 70 degree days. Typically the shoes, handbags, and jewelry is what I gravitate towards but his year I am finding more of a need for denim, tops, and lightweight third layering options. Scroll down to shop some of my personal favorites and great deals on wardrobe staples (like Hanky Panky thongs, my fave).
Shoes:
I am always looking for a new pair of workout shoes and these pink Nike’s are super adorable and will be perfect for a workout or with jean shorts. Mules are totes having a moment and these pink BP pair are a great dupe of the Gucci Princetown loafers. These silver mules and bee embroidered options are a fun and slightly dressier option for date night and let’s be real, you can’t go wrong with a pair of booties for Fall.
Jackets & Toppers:
This is an area of my closet that is pretty lacking. Since moving to the desert I NEVER buy these pieces because they get such limited wear but then when I need one I don’t have what I am looking for! I am loving some lighter weight options this season like this peplum army jacket, floral duster, and velvet kimono. Also, can you ever have too many denim jackets? This destroyed option is way cute with slip dresses or black skinny jeans. This BlankNYC jacket got tons of blogger love last year (and came in tons of colors) and I totally missed out. It’s a great option that isn’t as delicate as my lambskin leather jacket for days I want the look without having to be careful. This is also the year of replacing my Winter coat and how gorgeous is this Kenneth Cole option and this plaid topper?!
Sweaters:
A few options are needed each season to replace the ones I wore out last year….this cold shoulder option is perfect for my climate and I love a good long cardi like this, this and this.
Denim:
I feel like I never have enough jeans when I need them or well fitting denim that I feel amazing in. I fell in love with a pair of Frame jeans last Fall and have added this denim pair and this black pair to my list for Fall.
Dresses & Jumpsuits:
In Palm Springs these are year round options so I tend to invest the majority of my shopping dinero here. Slip dresses are having a serious moment and I have yet to jump on the band wagon…probably because I have struggled to find one in the right length, fabric, and cut. This BP option is a cute casual piece that will look great with a long cardi and booties on cooler days and this Trouvé option is everything I have wanted in a slip dress. Jumpsuits are my newest favorite and I really want to add a few dressier options like this ruffle sleeve one and this pretty red option to my growing collection. Adding another floral wrap dress and midi length jersey dress to my wardrobe are perfect desert additions.
Blouses & Tops:
The Anniversary Sale is a great time to stock up on basics that you will wear your round like these basic tees, these long sleeve options, and this tie front sweatshirt. I also plan to grab a few dressier blouses like this floral option and this pajama inspired piece.
Other Random Finds:
These no show socks are my favorite to wear with my sneakers and so hard to find! I typically stock up on Hanky Panky panties during the sale since they are a bit less expensive and they are all I wear. These Zella leggings are great for working out or running errands and these joggers are the perfect Fall necessity. I love to sleep in light chemises like this one and finding them on sale is the perfect time to grab a few new ones! These Quay sunnies are a fun statement piece and under $40!
Happy Shopping and be sure to check back throughout the sale as I add to my picks!
XO, Niki
A lot of cute stuff Niki! Hugs, Terri xo.
