Q. How old are you?

A. I am 38.

Q. How tall are you?

A. 5’8″

Q. What kind of dog is Hogan?

A. He is a rescue so we don’t know for sure but there is certainly some St. Bernard in there and we think maybe some Shepherd?  All I know for certain is that he is 130 pounds of pure fluff, slobber, and love.

Q. When and why did you start a blog?

A. I started TDN in 2013 while I was evaluating what I wanted me career to look like.  I have always loved fashion and shopping but never considered that I could have a career in that world.  I began my blog as a creative outlet and jumping off point to start the next chapter of my career.

Q. I am thinking of starting a blog, do you have any advice?

A. Oh gosh!  This is always such an interesting question.  I think my best advice would be to blog about what you love and have a passion for.  As TDN has grown it has evolved to include travel, more of my personal style, and pieces of my own life I choose to share.  Don’t start a fashion blog just because you think you’ll become rich and famous, trust me, it’s not that simple!  Another piece of advice is to be consistent.  I didn’t quite wrap my head around that as I started and you can see it in old Insta posts or the infrequency of my posts.  Whatever your aesthetic is define it and stay with it, your “brand” will be much more meaningful.

Q. What is your “real” job?

A. I have worked for 2 fashion brands since starting TDN and also do some social media consulting and freelance writing.

Q. Where are you from?

A. Tricky question….I grew up mostly on the Central Coast of California (Oxnard & Santa Maria for those of you familiar) but my family has had a home in Lake Arrowhead, CA since I was 4.  I think I consider “home” Lake Arrowhead.

Q. Do you like living in Palm Springs?

A. Oh my goodness, YES!!!  I was a little nervous to move to a place where I had spent so much “vacation” time for fear of ruining the memories and feelings of the town but honestly, living & working in Palm Springs is like perma-vacation!  There are always so many unique events, cocktail parties, beautiful weather, and new friends.  I also love that it is a small enough town where I run into friends at Trader Joe’s or a restaurant (but not so small everyone knows EVERYTHING like Arrowhead…).

Q. I am coming to Palm Springs, do you have any recommendations for me?

A. I sure do!  Check out my Ultimate Guide To Palm Springs and don’t forget to reach out with any other questions….

Q. How can I get in touch with you?

A. You can always email me at thedarlingnikiblog@gmail.com
