Raise your hand if you are ready for Fall 2019! By this time every year I am ready to retire my swimsuits and sundresses but am quickly reminded that in Palm Springs, Fall doesn’t actually begin until November. Despite the high temps and sunny days I have been craving some Fall wardrobe updates so when Desert Hills Premium Outlets reached out to have me come get Fall Ready I said YES, YES, YES!!!
If you are not familiar with Desert Hills Premium Outlets you are seriously missing out on some fantastic shopping (and deals) just 90 minutes East of LA and 20 minutes West of Palm Springs. There are more than 180 stores and it’s home to the largest collection of luxury outlets in the state. Gucci, Burberry, Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Jimmy Choo, Coach, MCM, Saks, Prada…the luxury list goes on and on. In addition to some of the top name luxury brands Desert Hills is also home to outlets from brands like Banana Republic, Ted Baker, White House Black Market, Gap, Levi’s, and even Lululemon. The diversity of shops and killer deals is why it is always a favorite place to shop for both Chris and I (we even do the majority of our Holiday shopping here).
This past Monday afternoon we made our way West to stock up on a few Fall essentials. My list of wants for Fall included a belt bag, either a black backpack or bucket bag to start transitioning even my daily outfits, some new booties, a cute pair of heels, and maybe a new jacket. Chris is always on the hunt for cool pieces from Levis and Varvatos (his 2 favorite stores) but especially shirts and sport coats with more of a Fall feel. Monday was Labor Day so there were even bigger deals which meant there were also a LOT more people shopping. We parked on the East side of the center near the 3rd entrance in a “parking made easy” lot that was added to accommodate the heavy volume of shoppers. Within minutes we were standing in Guest Services chatting with the amazing team about new stores and the VIP Rewards Program which gives members additional savings every day.
Our first stop was Levis where Chris found some new colors in his favorite style of denim that were originally $60 but marked down to $40 plus denim shirts with pearl buttons (he has been looking for these forever!). The shirts were originally $50 but marked down to $17!! Thanks to the VIP Rewards we had a promo for an additional $10 off a purchase of $100 bringing the total for 2 pairs of jeans and 2 shirts $115.
Next up it was time to shop for me so we popped into Barney’s Co-Op which is sadly going out of business but was offering up to 70% off. I immediately found a black belt bag that was exactly what I was looking for. The original price was $150 and with all discounts came to $29! The shoe department was honestly where the real deals were…I found Louboutin black suede heels IN MY SIZE for under $300 (I passed as I have an identical pair from Stuart Weitzman already). My huge score in shoes was a pair of Ulla Johnson burgundy suede heels that I had been eyeing for months. There was 1 pair left and happened to be my size (!!) which meant they had to be mine. They were originally $495 and my total came to $47, unbelievable!
We made our way in and out of dozens of stores and I almost pulled the trigger on a black leather fanny pack at Coach marked down from $298 to $89. I did end up grabbing a black, pebbled leather backpack from All Saints (originally $500, paid $105) and it is the perfect piece to bring a little Fall to Palm Springs. Chris may have hit the jackpot on deals at Varvatos where he bought a beautiful navy & black sport coat originally priced at $1500 on sale for $350!! He also finally replaced his wallet at Michael Kors for one that was marked down from $69 to $17. Our last stop of the night was Express where I grabbed a pair of acrylic earrings (originally $20, on sale for $10) and Chris bought another pair of his favorite pants for work (originally $50, on sale for $25). Our total was $35 but we had a $10 off promo bringing the total down to $25!
If money (and time) were not object we each could have bought so many more amazing pieces for our Fall wardrobes. Luckily we are close enough to pop back over next month for even more Fall finds and huge savings!
XO, Niki
