Weekend in LA

Happy Monday!!!  This past weekend was such a whirlwind in the best possible way.  For anyone who doesn’t know, I am a huge fan of The Eagles and had never seen them live.  A few months ago Chris came home from work and told me they were playing in LA for two nights so we jumped online, found some tickets and decided we were going…HOLY CRAP!!!!  Fast forward to this past Saturday and we packed up the car and hit the road!

Our day started with a late lunch in Manhattan Beach with one of my friends who recently moved from Palm Springs to LA.  We sat at the bar at Simmzy’s for some fish tacos and a Bloody Mary before walking down to the pier to take in all of the sunshine. (Little fact: I used to live in the South Bay area almost 8 years ago and haven’t been back in ages).  After lunch we got settled in our hotel before meeting Jenna (and her boyfriend) for dinner at Salt Creek Grille.  We had some wine (the guys had some Old Fashioneds) enjoyed an early dinner and caught up on life before Chris and I jumped in a Lyft and made our way to The Forum.

Okay, now to the concert.  I don’t think I have words to describe how unreal it was to see The Eagles live and sing along to all of my favorite songs.  I actually cried for a quick second when they started playing “Take It Easy” out of pure emotion for how overwhelming it was.  They played every hit over a full 2 1/2 hours ending with three encores (“Hotel California” and “Desperado” were part of that).

We woke up on Sunday morning still high on emotion from the night before and made our way to The Hook & Plow in Hermosa Beach for brunch.  If you find yourself in the area make a point to do brunch at this little gem!  The panko crusted avocado was unreal, the short rib hash wash so good, and the fried chicken & waffles looked heavenly (Chris ordered those).  We took a stroll to the end of the pier to walk off our meal before hopping back in the car to head south to San Diego for a UNLV Soccer tailgate and game with two of Chris’s kids (Chris played soccer in college at UNLV with the current head coach).

Needless to say today I could use a few extra hours of sleep and another cup of coffee.  Good thing I have nothing to do this coming weekend but relax!
