You know that sneaker trend that you have been seeing all over your social media feed? Ya…it’s not going anywhere anytime soon and I’m not all that mad at it! Let’s be real for a minute, I love sexy heels as much as the next gal but they typically aren’t all that comfortable and are NOT great for walking around in all day which is why I am a big fan of the uber comfy, super stylish sneakers (kicks, trainers, whatever) that are everywhere. In the last few years I have amassed a rather large collection of casual styles that I pair with everything from jean shorts and tanks to flowy wrap dresses. While I love the trend there are some styles that are simply a no way for me (here’s looking at you, Dad sneakers!) and others that I am a ride or die fan of.
Golden Goose – I know, I know, $400+ for sneakers may sound exorbitant BUT after picking up my first pair last Spring I am a convert! First of all, they are all handmade in Italy using the highest quality leathers. Second, they have an ever so slight lift in the heel (great for those of us used to running around in heels all day) that is actually more comfortable for the foot. Plus, how can you hate on the cute colors and styles??? I have the May style in a pretty crackle gold that get worn all the time and ordered another pair for Fall that I can’t wait to share with all of you!
Other styles I love: THESE, THESE, THESE, and THESE
Reebok Classics – Remember those super white trainers from the 80s? THEIR BACK!!! I got a few pairs about a year and a half ago and was a little on the fence but honestly they are awesome! I love them paired with a skinny jean and casual top or with joggers on the weekend. My favorite pairs are actually a vintage pair that Chris gave me for Christmas in pink, black and blue and a pair that are custom painted.
Adidas – Last Christmas my sister and I went to Disneyland for the day. She lives in South Korea and we didn’t talk about what we would be wearing to the park all day. Yup, you guessed it, we were both wearing Adidas…mine were classic Stan Smiths while her’s were an all white version of the iconic shoe.
Other styles I love: Gazelles and Superstars (the leopard are cute too)
Converse – In my opinion a pair of Converse Chuck Taylor sneakers is about as all American as it gets! Over the years I have had them in black, white, pink/white stripe, red, and even begged for a pair of One Stars when I started 8th grade! For me a classic Converse is the easiest way to try out the sneaker trend since they are A) affordable and B) versatile.
Nike’s – I know, I know, DUH! Nike’s are my go-to shoe for working out but I love some of their classic styles paired with skinny jeans or shorts for a effortless look like the Cortez sneakers.
I also have to give an honorable mention to a few Vans styles that I am currently thinking about including the classic style in red, the high tops, and the checkerboard slip ons.
XO, Niki
Converse for me. The flatter the sole the better since anything with arch support hurts my foot. But in the end all I want is flip flops or barefoot.
That is my only negative about Converse, too long in them and there is not enough arch support for me…but I adore them!
Different feet. You know you have to pay me to wear heels or wedges or anything. I am up to 11 pairs of Converse now. My bad!
