Keeping It Real: Round 2

Hey guys!  A few months back I decided to answer some of your questions in my first “Keepin It Real” post.  I initially intended for this Q&A situation to become a monthly post where I answer questions that ya’ll send me via email, comments here, or my social media but honestly, the Holidays derailed me and since the new year started I have had birthdays, Valentine’s Day, more birthdays, and tons of events in Palm Springs.  Well, I am officially committing (yet again) to a monthly Keepin’ It Real post for all of my fabulous readers.  Be sure to send any questions (thedarlingnikiblog@gmail.com) and I will of course answer!

What are some of your favorite places to shop?

This is a great question!  I always love shopping Nordstrom but since the closest one to me is over an hour away I have been doing some serious .com orders.  I also love Nordstrom Rack for killer deals (like my Rebecca Minkoff I found for under $100!).  I have recently discovered Revolve and bought all my Coachella (including this, this, and this) pieces and my birthday dress from them.

I love your sunglasses, where are they from?

Okay, legit I get asked this question daily either via comments on my Instagram or by people stopping me while we are out.  I have been wearing these Prada sunglasses since November and am still obsessed.  I started using Ditto back in October and love that I can rent designer sunnies and return them when I am bored or ready for something new.

What kind of dog is Sarge?

He is (as far as we know) a German Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix.  He is a rescue from the Humane Society so we don’t know exactly what else he may be mixed with but he is the sweetest boy!

Who shoots your photos?

For the longest time my photos were shot by my boyfriend, Chris, or friends I happened to be with and I have done a few shoots with Brooke from The Trapped Fashionista.  Our good friends have a daughter, Miranda, with a photography business on the side who did a few looks for me as well.  Last month I began shooting with a local photographer, Zoë Michelle, who has such a great fashion eye…stay tuned for more shoots with her in the next few months!

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?

Hmmmm…there are so many places I want to go but I will start with New York.  I feel like spending a week in NYC and experiencing Fashion Week is a must for someone who loves fashion and style as much as I do!

Thanks so much for reading and don’t forget to submit those questions!

XO, Niki

  1. Hi!

So another palm springs local happened to see my post to you regarding my bachelorette weekend and all the great spots to visit and answered alot of my questions. However, I am still interested in your advice. There will be about 10 of us. We are staying in a time share on the strip the weekend of May 20-22. We can be a wild group but I really want to make the most of 2 1/2 days because I don’t know when I will be back again 😳 We are supplying our own food but want to bar hop to have a drink (or a few) and would like to take alot of photos at each location. We are planning to go to dinner Saturday night. My favorite place is The Parker but I hear it’s a little expensive. Since the weather will be nice, an outdoor dinner setting would be great as well. What is the weather like in May? If you happen to be in town while we’re there I would love to meet you!

    Thank you,
    Adriana ❤

    1. I’m so glad you got some recommendations already! Palm Springs has so many great spots to check out and The Parker is a personal favorite of mine too 😊 For drinks I LOVE Bootlegger Tiki, BAR, Birba, Resevoir at the new Arrive Hotel, and Chi Chi at The Avalon. Bootlegger makes the most beautiful handcrafted tiki cocktails and they have a big patio for you and your girls. If a little Bloody Mary action is necessary be sure to try Jake’s or Peabody’s. If the Parker is feeling a bit too pricey (Mr. Parker’s can be) try Birba in Palm Springs, the spot is so chic and the food is to die for! I always enjoy a little afternoon at the Parker, pétanque and some spiked lemonade is 👌🏼 if dinner doesn’t work out. Hope this helps! I would love to meet you while you’re here, feel free to email me! XO!
