The Sofitel Los Angeles

You guys, I have been DYING to spend a night in LA (since we don’t get there nearly often enough), have some yummy food and catch up with friends.  As we were planning our Road Trip we decided to add a night in LA on our way home.  We arranged for a stay at The Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills and it was the ideal spot for us to spend 24 hours.

Let me just start out by saying that the location of The Sofitel could not be better!  It is located on La Cienega and Beverly just across the street from The Beverly Center (aka a shopping mecca) and just a few minutes from Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, The Grove, and of course the Iconic Sunset Strip.  If you are planning on a few days in LaLa Land and want to be centrally located this is the perfect spot!

We arrived around 4pm on a Friday and were greeted by a team of helpful valet attendants and bellmen who unloaded the car while we checked in.  Walking into the lobby was a bit like walking into either a hip Hollywood nightclub or a Vegas hotel with mirrored pillars, dim lighting and bright art.  The Front Desk was incredibly welcoming and gracious as we checked in offering suggestions on dining at Cattle & Claw plus information on hotel amenities.  We made our way to our chic Hollywood Hills view room on the 5th floor and settled in.

The guest rooms at Sofitel are HUGE by LA standards (about 400 square feet) and have the most beautiful views of the Hollywood Hills (swoon!).  I am always a hotel bathroom snob…I love a HUGE shower and a great shower head, The Sofitel had both of those plus Lanvin bath amenities.  Okay, now to my absolute favorite part of our room, the bed!  I know, I know but I am also a bed snob and struggle staying in hotels with beds that are either too firm or pillows that aren’t right but the Sofitel Bed is like sleeping in a cloud!  The linens are so soft, there is a down mattress topper, and the pillows are the perfect combination of fluffy yet firm.  If I could have stayed in bed and ordered room service the whole time, trust me, I would have!

After a quick change we went to explore the hotel.  There is the most colorful pool and lounging deck on the 2nd floor with a handful of cabanas, cozy seating areas, and floating lounges.  I personally loved all the pops of pink and aqua blue and the option to be right at the pool or up a short flight of steps overlooking the pool.  The Sofitel knows exactly what you want to drink while poolside, the menu is the perfect mix of Summer cocktails (Bellinis, Mimosas, Mojitos) and refreshing champagne or rosé.

The lobby level is home to SoSpa, a full service spa (I wish I had the time to book a treatment! Hopefully next time!) plus Le Salon, a celebrity hair salon for guests seeking the full Hollywood glamour treatment.  Chris and I also enjoyed checking out the hotel’s fitness center, SoFit.  While most hotels have a fitness room with a few machines and weights most do not offer the state of the art membership experience of SoFit.  We were both looking forward to trying the Pelaton bikes since we had not taken a spin class in a week, it’s a great option to keep up on workouts while on vacay.  SoFit also offers treadmills, free weights and machines plus the option of booking a personal training session with one of LA’s top trainers, so cool!  The best part was relaxing in the steam room after.

The Sofitel’s restaurant, Cattle & Claw, is a chic spot for a boozy brunch, casual lunch or romantic dinner.  There is a large indoor dining room or my personal favorite, a romantic and bohemian garden option with lots of light blue accents, cozy seating areas, an outdoor bar, and more plants that you can begin to count.  Fun Fact: The lobster roll has been voted one of the best in LA!

While our stay wasn’t quite long enough I am looking forward to a return trip so I can book a spa treatment and maybe grab a glass of wine or martini and listen to some jazz at Riviera 31, The Sofitel’s lounge.

If you are planning a trip to LA be sure to book a stay at The Sofitel and experience a beautiful hotel, fabulous amenities, and location, location, location!

XO, Niki
