As a Palm Springs local I get asked for recommendations on all sorts of things: restaurants, bars, hotels, shopping (and you can catch all of that in my Ultimate Palm Springs Guide). Something I never realized people would be interested in is where I get my hair done, where I get my nails done, and other beauty specific recommendations. A friend of mine actually told me that before she moved here she looked at my Instagram for these types of recommendations which is why I (finally) put together my guide to all things beauty here in the desert!

Hair
First things first, finding someone you trust for the perfect cut and color is like searching for the perfect man…thank goodness I have found both! I recently started going to House of Style in Palm Desert and Kimberly handles my lived in blonde and short length. If you are like me, you have walked into your fair share of salons lacking in style, which seems odd, or just don’t get you. That is not what you will find here. The salon is adorable! There are succulents and macrame and pink and a chic bathroom perfect for a selfie and every single woman who works there is super stylish! There is Pellegrino and coffee while your color processes and the music is on point. Now, on to my gal Kimberly. She recently moved back to the desert from Seattle and will instantly feel like a long lost friend. She has killer style and knows hair. She has mastered that “lived in” look that is everywhere right now and I am beyond obsessed with the magic she works on my hair.

Nails
I am a sucker for a mani/pedi and am religious about getting mine done. I have tried a few places over the years out of convenience but always go back to Lovely Nail in Palm Springs. I stumbled into this little spot downtown over 5 years ago before I ever moved to Palm Springs and continue to return. I opt for gel manis but they also do great dip if that is your jam. Hannah (the owner) is super sweet and her daughter Anne is an expert at dip. This spot is cash only so come prepared (although they do have an ATM inside) and is almost always busy so an appointment is highly encouraged.
Tanning
I love a good golden glow but honestly rarely lay out these days (no thanks, wrinkles) so I count on a gorgeous spray tan to fake it. Organic Glow Skin Studio (in Palm Springs and Indian Wells) has become my favorite spot for a quick fix to pale skin. A basic spray tan runs $40 and lasts about 7-10 days but my personal favorite is the rapid dry tan (3 hours and I’m set). Not only is the space adorable but all the products used are organic! During peak season they do book FAST so be sure to plan accordingly if you need a tan around festival season.

Facials
I am a late comer to this one, don’t judge! Organic Glow is my go to (and Jessica is my go to gal) for a relaxing facial that leaves my skin glowing like I have been on vacation…especially when paired with that spray tan! I love that Jessica uses products from local skincare line, The Body Deli, and that everything is local and organic. Next up for me to try is a Dermaplane facial.

Massage
This is one indulgence I don’t take advantage of often enough. I used to live for monthly massages but just haven’t budgeted the time or the expense recently. When I do you can bet that you will find me at The Parker in Palm Springs at their spa, Palm Springs Yacht Club. I love that they kick off your service with a shot of vodka (fun, right?) and then you can indulge all afternoon.

Wax
I found European Wax Center in Palm Desert a few years ago and love the way they do my brows. House of Style also does a killer brow and Organic Glow not only handles your tanning and facial needs but can take care of your wax while you are there!
Hope this is helpful!
XO, Niki
