OH. MY. GOSH. You guys, I have found the most AMAZING sushi in the Coachella Valley.  A few nights ago Chris and I were going to grab some dinner and happened to be in La Quinta (instead of Palm Springs), we decided sushi was in order and went to Sushi Kitto, an unassuming sushi spot in the Heritage Court shopping center.  Let’s just say that after years of living in LA I am used to killer “strip mall” sushi and have been majorly let down by most of the choices in and around Palm Springs.  Kitto did not, repeat, did not disappoint!

We sat at the sushi bar, had some unfiltered saki (my fave) and placed a relatively small order in the world of sushi.  We ordered 2 pieces of yellowtail, a go to for me anytime I have sushi, which was presented to us within minutes.  The fish was SO fresh and the flavor was beautiful, we were off to a great start! We ordered a Ninja Roll (spicy tuna with all the yummy sauces), a Caterpillar Roll (eel), and a Shrimp Tempura Roll (basic, yes), we were STUFFED!!!  Each roll that was presented to us was more beautiful than the last, the flavors were honestly out of this world, and the thing that was most unique to this sushi connoisseur was the quality of the ingredients used.  All of the fish tasted like it had been caught that morning, the avocado was perfect, the rice was cooked to perfection, and the sauces all tasted as if they had been made from scratch in the kitchen.  Yup, a winner in my book.

The food was awesome and the staff was so gracious and so very accommodating. We arrived during a rush and had a little wait before our spot was ready for us and the staff made a point of offering us drinks, updating us on the timing of our seats, and were generally concerned with our comfort while we waited which feels like a rarity these days.  If you find yourself in the Coachella Valley for anything (Modernism, Coachella, Desert Trip….) be sure to stop into Kitto for lunch or dinner before you leave!

XO, Niki
